Consistency is a mind set

With all of the new techniques I have been introducing to my life, I thought it would be productive to look at some other blog posts to become more aware of other peoples interests. The hope is that I could find something that helps me and my mission to improve my efficiency by giving me something to test. Through a little research I found another person in MGG 303 with a writing about having a consistent mindset. Brentyn Utter talks about the usage of a consistent mindset to continue to focus on the same thing and not get distracted. He says “Having continuous thoughts keeps a person motivated and occupied when they feel distracted” which speaks volume to a person like me who easily gets distracted while completing tasks. To give myself a way of continuing to check my mindset, I set alarms in intervals of 30 minutes to go off and alert me so I could check what I was doing and thinking about. I was not sure if this would distract me more or interrupt my flow of thinking and was curious how a few hours with the alarm would affect my productivity. This strategy worked much better then I had anticipated and twice I caught myself not focusing on the task at hand and was able to refocus so I was not distracted anymore. I enjoyed the way I was able to actually work the full period of time I had designed for myself and plan on using this strategy much more often. The long term benefits of using this strategy is hopefully I will anticipate the alarm and eventually be able to just form a habit of checking my mindset while doing tasks and refocusing. I will continue to use this strategy and implement it in my daily routine.
