3 Techniques I Used to Become Consistent With Drinking Water

Consistency takes more than you think

There are certain things that prompt people to drink water actively; water gives fresher skin or water aids splendid bowel movement and digestion. Well, for me, I wanted to drink water because I wanted to be healthy, not because I lacked an adequate body proportion or that I was overweight.

I’m slim and trust me, it doesn’t mean I’m healthy. I live on junk and scram, it could be a result of my unique body metabolism but I never seem to add weight. This means I had a fit body, but in reality, my body system harbored unhealthiness. I did not like this, so I decided to step up my game — drink more water to speed up the eradication of all those waste that bundled up in my system.

Drinking water per se is not easy. It’s basically a self-task; human beings including me don’t like tasks. My journey was like a marathon race — you run fast, then slow, then faster, then maybe give up. My mistake was starting the race at the fastest pace, so I got tired and gave up partially — I still wanted to be healthy.

Everyone knows water is good for the body, but only a few know that water intake should be at least 2000ml/68 fluid ounces a day (approximately 8 glasses of water — a glass measures about 250ml). For someone like me, I wondered how possible it was to take in that much water without peeing in-between meetings or lectures. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of people put up with this, but me being 5 feet 1 — I’d normally drink 2 glasses a day. That’s really small.

Upon getting a hold of motivation from YouTube, I grabbed a gallon and stuffed my tummy with a voluminous amount of water which sadly resulted in a tummy ache and unstoppable peeing for a whole two days — probably because I wasn’t used to that type of lifestyle.

Since I began to understand my body, I decided to start with a glass of water every morning. By morning, I mean 6 a.m — I usually get up early because it keeps me productive for the day. The idea wasn’t bad at all, although I made the mistake of taking in cold water. I stopped when I noticed I couldn’t down a full glass — it was otherwise when I started…
