White Noise

I realized a second ago

The world has no sound.

we go round and round

singing to ourselves.

But all we do

is distract ourselves from the void around us,

the dark holes and the pitch black that draws us in.

Swept into an ebb

it becomes too hard to swim out

white noise raging at our ears,

our eyes stitch themselves together

until it lets our tears.

The world has no sound

as we make our own.
