Out of The Blue

Having the rug pulled out from underneath me in order to protect someone’s else self interest after they realize the distance’s I have put between us.

I stood out on my mama’s front porch chain smoking. I was frighten for my friend, *Autumn Starr. I had just received a call from a Bibb county casework, *Jennifer Collins who wanted to talk to me about Autumn. I was told that there had been a complaint and they needed to come talk to me.

Autumn’s daughter, *Cherry had been very sick. She was wearing a feeding tube in her nose in order to eat. She had been exhibiting sever mood changes. I had been questioned by my son’s nurse practitioner (who happened to be Autumn’s cousin by marriage) if I had seen any signs of sexual or physical abuse towards Cherry. I assured her I hadn’t but I do not think she was happy with the answer I had given her.

No one could figure out why Cherry was so sick. Since no physical illness had been found, they had been looking towards mental. Add to the fact that Autumn’s four other children had missed close to twenty days of school, that the family had moved for the tenth time in eighteen months, and the adults had no true means of support well it had the makings of a DFCS (Department of Family and Children’s Services) complaint.

My main concern was that my daughter Maria was over there. I had been trying to get Autumn to bring Maria to me all day. She had a million and one reasons why she couldn’t. First was she didn’t have enough gas in her car. I told her I had money to put gas in the car. She had to pick the kids up from school. She didn’t have enough room for all the kids and still be able to put the car seat in the car. In the middle of her excuses her phone hung up on me. She later claimed that she had run out of prepaid minutes. By then I knew the truth by the time she called me back and told me that lie.

The point was I wanted Maria home. If Autumn was about to lose her kids I didn’t want Maria in the middle of it. I would help0 Autumn out as much as possible but not at the expense of my children. Besides I had been having a bad feeling of the last couple of days. Autumn wanted Maria’s social security number. She claimed it was to get Maria a lot of toys from local charities for Christmas. I didn’t like that because Maria was getting a lot of toys from her family…
