2020 National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security

NYLF National Security is a program provided through Envision, which offers career, leadership, and technology programs in the United States and around the world. Sponsored by George Mason University the annual six-day event prepares high school students for careers in diplomacy, intelligence, and defense. The 2020 forum will take place at the University of Maryland, College Park, on five different dates: June 21–26, July 5–10, July 12–17, July 19–24, and July 26–31. Tuition costs $2,695 for the program and covers most expenses, including room and board. During the forum, students have the chance to talk to national security experts about intelligence strategies. They also have access to government agencies and industry professionals.

At the end of the forum, attendees can take what they have learned about intelligence, diplomacy, and defense operations, and put it into practice in a hands-on national security crisis simulation. This is a simulated security threat where students work in teams and take on character roles, receiving information in real time that affects their decision-making and peer interactions. During the simulation, teams will develop a strategy to resolve the threat.
